The Grapevine is a newsletter published for all the women of the Des Moines Presbytery, whether they are part of an active PW group, part of another group, or active in other ways to further the mission of spreading Christ’s words in our world. Please share with the members of your PW, and make copies for those in and outside your group. Urge them to share with others. Don’t keep it a secret!
PW Purpose Awards
The Presbyterian Women (PW) of the Presbytery of Des Moines established the PW Purpose Awards. The PW Coordinating Team recognized there are women deserving of these awards throughout all the churches of the Presbytery. The awards honor women of the Presbytery who have distinguished themselves in one of four categories taken from the PW Purpose statement. All women who are nominated are honored. To nominate a women for a PW Purpose Award, email office@presbyeries.org for details.

2020 PW Purpose Award
Two nominees for the PW Purpose Award were honored in 2020: Carol Barnes (Oskaloosa, First) and Ethel Lee Tucker (Winterset, First United). Both of these wonderful women were nominated and honored for demonstrating support for the mission of the church worldwide.

Dianne Van Gorp
2017 PW Purpose Award
Dianne Van Gorp of First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa has become the first woman nominated by her church to be honored by the Presbytery Presbyterian Women with the PW Purpose Awards. Dianne was honored at the 2017 Spring Connection of the Presbytery PW that was held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Trinity United Presbyterian in Indianola.
