The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly walk to raise money for local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. Team up, fundraise, walk, and gather for good… because it’s cold out there. We walk through the cold and dark in February to declare our concern for people who have no home and take shelter in nooks and crannies.
This is an annual event that takes place throughout the US and Canada to bring awareness to those less fortunate and homeless in our communities. So far there are events set up in 60 different locations, with over 3500 walkers.
The event here in Des Moines, is taking place at Water Works Park in Des Moines, with registration at 4:00 pm and the walk starting at 5:00 pm. You have the choice to walk either 1 mile or 3 miles. The walk will benefit Central Iowa Shelter and Services, the largest homeless shelter in the State of Iowa.
The goal of Trinity Presbyterian Church is to raise $5,000. We challenge every church in our Des Moines Presbytery to join, either gathering a team to walk or making a donation to Trinity’s team to help us meet our goal.
