Awesome Outreach Celebration = A Great Day for the Arabic Outreach Center!
The Arabic Outreach Center’s first fundraiser celebration on Saturday, October 19, was a delightful success! The event began with a delicious soup lunch, which included tastes of savory homemade Sudanese hummus and sweet basta (dessert). The program featured stories about the outreach center and its impact on the immigrants and refugees they serve. Louise Gately served as the MC, and Rev. Ekram Kachu (pastor of First Arabic Presbyterian Church and Director of the Arabic Outreach Center) gave a moving account of some of the individuals whose lives have been touched by the outreach center. Two young adults (children of refugees), spoke about the positive impact the church and the outreach center have had on their lives. Following the speakers, the First Arabic youth choir delighted the audience with their upbeat music. The event concluded with a lively auction featuring several enticing items.
The Sudanese Support Team (which sponsored the event) would like to thank all those who attended, and all those who so generously donated to the Arabic Outreach Center. The team would also like to thank Heartland Presbyterian Church for providing space for this event, and all the volunteers who gave of their time and talents to make it a great success. Approximately $5,000 was raised to sustain and further the mission of the Arabic Outreach Center. We are half-way to our goal of $10,000 by the end of the year. Thank you to all!
