SAVE THE DATE: Bishop Dingman Award Celebration
The Catholic Peace Ministry is happy to announce the 26th annual Dingman Award Celebration to be held on Saturday, April 6, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School. A social hour with hors d’oeuvres and desserts starts at 6 p.m. in the school community room. That will be followed at 7:30 p.m. with the awards program in the church sanctuary.
CPM is thrilled to announce the 2024 Bishop Dingman Award Recipients are Sister Elaine Hagedorn, CHM and Sister Marilyn Jean (“Jeanie”) Hagedorn, CHM. The Bishop Maurice Dingman Peace Award was established by the Catholic Peace Ministry in 1995 to honor Bishop Dingman, and local peace and justice advocates, who like Bishop Dingman live a life committed to building a more just and peaceful world. Sister Elaine and Sister Jeanie live such lives; serving the immigrant, the marginalized, the children, partnering with peace makers to end war and build the “beloved community” of which Rev. Martin Luther King spoke.
We are honored to have Bishop Keneetha Bigham-Tsai of the Iowa Episcopal Area, United Methodist Church present the keynote for this important celebration. Bishop Bigham –Tsai is a perfect fit for the evening keynote. She, like Sister Elaine and Jeanie, is a woman leader in her denomination, and like the sisters and Bishop Dingman she lives out a passion for “social” as well as “personal” holiness.
This annual event serves also as a fundraiser for Catholic Peace Ministry to continue our mission to build a more just and peaceful world community.
