About Us

A New Vision Statement

Partnering with congregations and clergy to minister in a changing world.

Mission Statement

As our Presbytery of Des Moines moves toward the 21st century, we see:

A presbytery whose fundamental life is in and through local congregations:

  • Affirming and supporting all congregations
  • Wisely using and continuing to discover the varied gifts of its people
  • Responding to issues as they arise from the local churches

A presbytery which focuses on three key ministries. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, our presbytery will be known as a presbytery which engages itself in:

  • Extending the ministry of local churches
  • Supporting local churches
  • Providing efficient governance

Stated Meeting

 Our Next Stated Meeting Is:

All-Iowa Presbyterian Gathering

Friday & Saturday, June 2-3, 2017

The six Iowa presbyteries are joining together for a weekend of worship, learning, mission, and fellowship.  PCUSA Stated Clerk J. Herbert Nelson will be preaching and speaking as we celebrate our differences and share our common faith as the one Body of Christ.  Come celebrate being Presbyterian in Iowa!  Registration will be taken by each presbytery, and more information will be forthcoming soon!  Save the date for what will undoubtedly be an impacting experience.  The meeting will be hosted by Collegiate & Northminster Presbyterian Churches in Ames, Iowa.
