There were 21 youth and 4 adults from the Presbytery of Des Moines who traveled to Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN for the 2016 Presbyterian Youth Triennium. It was held Tuesday, July 19 - Saturday, July 23, 2016. Rev. Adam Smith of Dallas Center First Presbyterian, Thomas and Christine Albers of Ankeny Presbyterian and Rev. Linda O'Connell, honorably retired, attended as the adult chaperones.
The First Arabic Presbyterian Worshiping Community celebrated its return to the Cottage Grove Church building with a joyous worship service last Sunday, September 11. The congregation had been holding services at Windsor Presbyterian Church for the summer while the Cottage Grove building was being renovated, but they are now delighted to return to their “home” worship space. The Sudanese congregation members were joined by individuals from our presbytery, along with several visitors from the new Cottage Grove Church. Please continue to pray for our Sudanese friends as they build their congregation here in Des Moines, and as they cope with the devastating situation in their homeland.
