This summer the PCUSA Stated Clerk is coming to Iowa, and all Iowa Presbyterians are invited to join him in Ames for an inspiring weekend gathering. The Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson was elected Stated Clerk last June in a historic vote by the General Assembly, becoming the first African American to hold this top ecclesial office.
Once again, but for the last time on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Rev. Bob & Jeanne Burnett hosted a wonderful Christmas luncheon for the retired pastors, spouses and surviving spouses. Jeanne always outdoes herself each and every year by preparing a scrumptious meal for the entire group of 20-30 folks , depending on how many are able to attend. The Presbytery staff are always invited and a wonderful time of food, fellowship and singing Christmas carols is had by all! This was the last one to be hosted by the Burnetts and a big thank-you goes out to them for all the wonderful hosting and fellowship times over the years. As far as we can estimate, this was the 13th year for them to host.
A very successful two-day celebration was held to celebrate the retirement of Rev. Ken Rummer at First Presbyterian Church in Corning, Iowa. We wish Ken and Myrna well in their new adventures of building and moving into a new home in Ankeny!
From Rev. Rummer...
"To all who helped with the retirement celebration: Thank you! the open house, the extended worship, the gifts, and the dinner all worked together to make it a memorable weekend..."
