During the week of November 4-11, the Our Sister Parish Medical Delegation traveled to Berlin, Usulutan, El Salvador to work with the Pastoral Team, the community boards and health committees of the rural villages, and local medical personnel to provide basic healthcare and health education to the people. As part of their work, they learned about the historical roots of poverty and social injustice in Central America from the people they are serving in order to better understand the current needs and challenges of El Salvador's poorest communities. In doing so, they hope to build greater links of solidarity, friendship, and love between Christians in central Iowa and their Salvadoran brothers and sisters.

On Sunday, September 27, 2015, the Rev. Eric Pasanchin was installed as Pastor of Ankeny Presbyterian Church, Ankeny, IA.  Pictured is the Rev. Shamaine Chambers King, moderator of the Presbytery and Rev. Pasanchin.

Greg Smith and I of Des Moines Presbytery are members of the National Response Team (NRT) of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). As NRT members we are deployed as much as four weeks out of each year in response to a variety of disasters. This is done without pay although our expenses are covered. There are presently about 80 NRT members located across the country.
