Rev. Phil Barrett was elected Stated Clerk and General Presbyter of the Des Moines Presbytery on Feb. 1, 1994 and has continued to serve the Presbytery since that time. During his tenure with the Presbytery, Phil has ministered to many churches, many pastors and a very large number of church members.

A retirement reception for Phil was held on Sunday, Nov. 22, to celebrate with and congratulate Phil on his retirement after nearly 22 years of service. It was held at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola from 2-5 p.m. There was a short program at 3 p.m.

During the week of November 4-11, the Compañeros Medical Delegation traveled to Berlin, Usulutan, El Salvador to work with the Our Sister Parish Pastoral Team, the community boards and health committees of the rural villages, and local medical personnel to provide basic healthcare and health education to the people. As part of their work, they learned about the historical roots of poverty and social injustice in Central America from the people they are serving in order to better understand the current needs and challenges of El Salvador's poorest communities. In doing so, they hope to build greater links of solidarity, friendship, and love between Christians in central Iowa and their Salvadoran brothers and sisters.

On Sunday, October 18, 2015, the Rev. Wallace Bubar was installed as Pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa.  Pictured is Rev. Bubar with the Rev. Shamaine Chambers King, moderator of the Presbytery.
